Hi readers,
A Favicon for a blog is just like a logo for your blog - unique and identifiable. Remember making a logo for your own name in schools?
Favicon is just that. A favicon will appear at the left end
of the tab of your browser in which your website is opened. It also appears
when you are checking the history near the website name, the favicon will be
present.
How to make a nice favicon?
Three factors that decide a good favicon are
- The size of the favicon
- Design of favicon
- Colour Combination
Now you can get a favicon for your website at less than $2. For more details, Click here
The Size of Favicon!
- The size of the favicon must be 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels.
- The format of favicon must be either PNG, GIF, ICO or W3C. PNG is the most preferred.
- You can make one in Adobe Photoshop if you are a pro in editing, but if you are not and you have a Smartphone.

Design of favicon
The design of
favicon is also important. Since the favicon represents your website, it is the
identity of your website.
So the alphabets of the shape of the logo should
resemble your site name. So that when someone sees your favicon they should
recognize your website.
Tips towards a good design
- Keep the background
transparent
- Use the optimum number of
letters
- Try to use numbers
- If letters are used let
it is visible
Colour Combination
Colour combination
is a crucial thing in favicon designing. The colour of the favicon should match the background or the common colour shade of the site.
If your website in
a dark colour fashion then the favicon also should be a dark fashion. This will
make the favicon looks special on your site.
Do not use more
than three colours in favicon. If you are a little expert in photoshop you can
design good designs by yourself.
If you are really artistic, you can design
a complete picture, which can be used as a favicon and as a logo near to your
site name. For example please visit godaddy.com.
They have used the same icon
as logo and favicon.
