How to check if laptop can add more RAM

RAM or Random Access Memory is one of the factor that decides the speed and multi function capability of your computer. Upgrading or adding new RAM can possibly increase your laptop's or PC's performance.

If your laptop is not provided with an extra slot you may need to replace the RAM to a higher capacity. To check whether your computer has an extra slot, here is what you need to.

Step 1

Go to task manager. To open the task manager press Ctr+Shift+Esc or Ctr+Alt+Delete

Step 2

Click on more details and then select Performance tab on top of the window

Step 3

Click on Memory. In this window you will find "slots used"

If it is given 1 of 1 then you need to replace your RAM

If it is given 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 you have free slots to upgradation. You don't need to replace the RAM, instead you add more RAM.
